For the fourth edition of the Apple Watch, Apple has included a gold stainless steel model. To give you a clear idea of ​​the finishes, we compare the Apple Watch Series 4 in gold-plated stainless steel, the Apple Watch Series 4 in gold aluminum and the Apple Watch Rose Gold Series 2.

As a bit of history, for some time now Apple has been offering gold variants of the Apple Watch, including the original Apple Watch Edition version of $ 10,000 and up. More recently, there was the series 2 in pink gold and the series 3 in gold in aluminum. For Series 4, a stainless steel joins aluminum.

At the time of testing, we found that stainless steel was the best finish that would please most users. The matte aluminum has a slightly more yellow hue, where the more reflective stainless steel leans slightly towards copper / brass.

Recently, we took a look at the group of Milanese gold buckles that Apple also released, but we wanted to take a look at its appearance for aluminum, rather only for the stainless steel as it was presented in our review.

As you can see, the Milanese buckle has polished stainless steel legs that do not fit perfectly with the matt aluminum. Fortunately, from the front, we have this matte finish that we talked about earlier, and we think it blends better. The band does not harmonize as well as on stainless steel, but it will only be noticed during a thorough inspection.

We also compared aluminum and stainless steel compared to abandoned rose gold.

The three versions of gold have their merits, but we think that opting for gold rather than pink gold was the right choice overall, and the only difference is that gold was the best choice. stainless is particularly amazing to see.
