CD Projekt Red wants the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 to have the same quality as the masterpiece recently published by Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption 2.
In a conference call with investors, Adam Kracinski, CEO of the publisher, was asked if CD Projekt Red was thinking Cyberpunk 2077 will be good enough to get a metacritic score of at least 95 at launch, or if the game will be released according to schedule, although there are still issues to be solved.
The investor who asked the question compared the performance of CD Projekt Red The witcher 3, which took three months for the patches to solve the launch problems and got a metacritic score of 92 on the day of its release, with Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released without major problems and obtained a metacritical score of 97 on the day of the launch.
"Without a doubt, quality is of paramount importance. We strive to publish games as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2, and recent releases of Rockstar in general, "said Kracinski.
"This game is excellent, by the way, we support it. Rave reviews, excellent sales, "added the CEO, praising Red Dead Redemption 2, while suggesting that Cyberpunk 2077 aims for the same level of success.
Kracinski said that CD Projekt Red remains confident about the prospects for Cyberpunk 2077, but the studio has learned from the reaction of the video game community to Red Dead Redemption 2. The players particularly appreciated the absence of major problems in the latest version of Rockstar Games, which was not the case for The witcher 3.
In addition, studio executives confirmed that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 "is progressing quickly and according to plan", and has also checked rumors that the entire campaign of the game is already playable.
CD Projekt Red offered the first look at Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018, followed by a gaming trailer in August featuring 48 minutes of Night City, customization options and combat mechanics. Contrary to The witcher series, players will be able to create custom characters for Cyberpunk 2077, and the gameplay video was centered on a female character who was on a mission looking for a missing person in Night City, a city full of violence.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but the Projekt Red CD has not yet released a release date.
