On Wednesday, September 12, the big Apple conference will begin at 10:00 in the Pacific.
We will probably see three iPhones with radically different designs and an all-iPad Pro with Face ID. The wait could finally be over for the AirPower Charging Pad and the fourth generation of Apple. There may be a new MacBook of some kind, probably an entry-level model, although it could happen later, in my opinion. But maybe even that AirPods 2 will be announced.
Today, TF International Securities' ever-accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals his latest predictions of what is about to take place in the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino. In a new research note that was seen by MacRumors, Kuo talks about a lot of products.
Much of what he says is directly related to previous rumors, but there is new meat on the table.
Apple Watch Series 4
For starters, there is the confirmation of a narrower bezel around the screen on the next Apple Watch, probably called Apple Watch Series 4. The narrower bezel in a case of the same size for the watch it -Even means a larger screen with existing straps.
But Kuo has more news from Watch.
The back of the case on the Apple Watch models is currently made of ceramic on some versions, but not all, of composite glass on the aluminum only GPS model. The next batch will have the most luxurious ceramic back.
He also thinks that the new watches will support the ECG (also called ECG), abbreviation of electrocardiogram. Of course, all Apple watches support heart rate monitoring, but the ECG is a more advanced form of measurement that will require more sophisticated sensors, which has already been the subject of rumors.
As Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said earlier today, "the upgrades will mark the most significant changes to the Apple Watch since its launch in 2014".
iPad Pro
There have been a lot of rumors and leaks about the upcoming iPad Pro. It is not certain that the next tablet will be announced tomorrow, after all, the latest entry-level iPad had an event alone at the beginning of the year, but I think it will make the difference.
Kuo has interesting thoughts on what will happen:
It will have a face identifier rather than the current touch ID, as previously suggested.
But the big news is that Kuo thinks he's going to replace the Lightning connector with USB-C.
Let's be clear: I do not believe it.
Although the iPad Pro of recent years has been seen more and more as a substitute for MacBook (and that these MacBooks use USB-C, no?), Previous rumors said that the next iPad Pro would lose the grip helmet. I was dubious of this, to be honest, but if that's true, then USB-C seems incredibly improbable.
Why? Because Apple has never promoted audio via USB-C. This could do it, but will it really pack an iPad Pro box with headphones that connect via USB-C, while the iPhone comes with a headset with a Lightning connector?
Honestly, I do not think you can have both.
Maybe the new 18W adapter, which Kuo says will come with the iPad Pro, will have a USB-C port on it. Or maybe the iPad Pro will not lose the headphone jack after all, in which case a regular 3.5mm headphone jack will accompany a tablet with a USB-C connector.
Of course, I could be wrong, but it just does not make sense to me.
AirPods 2 and AirPower
Finally, Kuo talks about "AirPods 2" that have long been the subject of rumors, but which seemed less likely recently. Maybe that's just a reference to the AirPods sold in a new box with wireless charging connectivity, or maybe that means newer, more powerful AirPods are coming in.
Not long now until we know for sure.
