The last time we heard about Team Ninja's Dead or Alive series, it was when the developer was questioned about the possibility of a sixth entry on Nintendo Switch when it came to the game. This year's E3. It was explained that technical hurdles would have to be overcome before even considering publication.

Today, in a surprise announcement at the Dead or Alive festival in Japan, publisher Koei Tecmo revealed that the latest entry of his Xtreme derivative series will be released on Switch on March 20. Officially titled Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet, the game was originally launched on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in 2016. The pre-orders for this latest release will open on November 19. Currently, there is no mention of an outlet outside of Japan.

The Xtreme series debuted exclusively on the Xbox in 2003 and consists of a compilation of sports and mini-games featuring female fighters from the casting of Dead or Alive. In the third entry, players can play games like volleyball and "lacrosse combat" while unlocking more swimsuits for the characters and taking pictures of them in various exotic locations. The series has received a mixed reception over the years, especially in the West, due to "cultural differences" – as explained by Sony Interactive Entertainment's president, Shuhei Yoshida.

It may not be exactly the Dead or Alive game that the majority of Switch owners wanted to hear for the platform, but it's at least another Team Ninja game designed to adorn the game. One of the Nintendo platforms. This developer has had good relationships with Nintendo over the years – with the company in charge of Metroid: Other M during the Wii generation, Hyrule Warriors at the time of the Wii U, Fire Emblem Warriors on Switch and in 2011 he released the quality portable fighter Dead or Alive: Dimensions on the 3DS.
