Today 's list is highlighted by an agreement on Nvidia' s Shield TV channel, which is currently down to $ 140. It's a $ 40 discount, tied for the lowest price we've seen for the 4K media player.
The Shield TV has been around for a few years, but it's still the box to own if you want Android TV. Nvidia continues to support the device with regular updates, and the hardware remains fast enough to keep everything flowing smoothly. While Roku and Amazon offer cheaper 4K HDR streamers, the Shield is more flexible in local file support, with two USB ports for connecting external devices and the ability to serve as a Plex server.
It works both with the Google Assistant and with Alexa (the latter requires a pre-existing Alexa device) and can be paired with a tuner to view live TV. The shield also works as a gaming console with Nvidia's GeForce Now streaming service, although this offer does not include the game controller accessory of the company. The only drawback is that it lacks the Dolby Vision HDR, unlike the Apple TV 4K.
