If you played DestinyYou may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. in Destiny 2, he's back, and now appears all over the map. This week, he's on Io. You can find Xur hanging out inside a cellar in the Giant's Scar.
Xur's inventory this week consists of the following:
- Skyburner's Oath, Exotic Rifle Scout: 29 Legendary Shards
- Young Ahamkara's Spine, Exotic Hunter Gauntlet: 23 Legendary Shards
- Helm of St. 14, Exotic Titan helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
- Skull of Dire Ahamkara, Exotic Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
- Fated Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
Xur 's inventory to cap out at 581 at 600 power – one Light above your Collection. He also offers specific rolls on each armor piece each week, giving out different perks for the same pieces. We've highlighted any great rolls below.
SKYBURNER'S OATH
The Skyburner's Oath is a scout rifle modeled after the Cabal's slug rifle. Its first exotic perk is Slug Rifle, which causes the gun to deal with it. The recent exotic update brought these slugs to act as explosive grenades when being quick-fired. The second exotic perk is For the Empire. This is the most important thing in Phalanx enemies, and most importantly, penetrates the shields of Phalanx enemies.
Skyburner's Oath make it sound fantastic. While it used to be fairly mediocre, the last update makes it useful in some situations at best and fun at worst. If you have not gotten Skyburner's Oath yet, it's definitely worth picking up from Xur.
YOUNG AHAMKARA'S SPINE
Young Ahamkara's Spine is quite unremarkable as far as exotics go. Its main perk, Wish-Dragon Teeth, grows the length and blast radius of your tripmine grenades and returns to your grenade slot when you damage enemies with abilities.
If you're into PvP or just love using this all-time, this exotic fresh buffs actually make it quite potent. Give it a try and pick them up.
This week's roll: Three even stats, with a choice between mobility and resilience. Tier one gives a choice between fusion rifle loader, hand cannon loader and induction induction – melee attacks reduce grenade cooldown. Tier two offers shotgun scavenger and heavy ammo finder. This is actually a great roll, especially for PvP – which is where this exotic shines anyway.
HELM OF SAINT-14
Another returning destiny Exotic, the Helm of Saint-14 is rarely useful in Destiny 2. Its exotic perk, Starless Night, causes your Ward of Dawn to blind enemies who walk inside it. Guarding with Sentinel Shield will provide the same result.
Unfortunately, there are few times where you want to drop Ward of Dawn rather than using your full Sentinel Shield. When using the block, this is not enough. If you like the way it looks, pick it up for some fashion tower. But if you want a functional Titan helmet, look elsewhere.
This week's roll: No mobility, medium resilience and low recovery with a choice between resilience and recovery. Tier one offers a choice between bow targeting, hand tuning and hands-on. Tier two gives the choice between shotgun and ammo finder. This is a pretty decent roll, so pick it up if you ever plan on using this helmet.
THE SKULL OF DIRE AHAMKARA
The Skull of Dire Ahamkara is the Warlock helmet on offer this week. It's a pretty situational exotic, but it can be devastating when used properly. Its exotic perk, Actual GrandeurNova Bomb – and your Nova Bomb kills grant Super Energy instantly.
If you can not get enough of your time in the big group of enemies – in PvE or even PvP – you will find a lot of super energy. If you like playing Voidwalker at all, this is a solid helmet.
