Diablo 3 will not be the subject of a crossover game anytime soon

Blizzard responded to rumors that Diablo 3 would benefit from cross-play support. Although the developer knows the enthusiasm of the players, he confirmed that the crossplay of Diablo 3 was not planned at the moment.

"Although we like the idea of bringing our players together on multiple platforms, we do not plan to set up a multi-platform game for Diablo yet," said a Blizzard representative to Comic Book. Diablo 3 exists on several different platforms, including consoles of two different generations. Following Sony's decision to try the multi-platform console game with Microsoft and Nintendo in Fortnite, some players have turned to other games that could benefit from cross-play. With Diablo 3 on as many platforms, it's a popular candidate.

Before the confirmation of Comic Book, in an interview with Business Insider, a representative of Blizzard said that the multiplatform game of Diablo 3 was "a question of when, no if". This has led to several rumors that the roleplaying robot dungeon would soon support the crossover game. Some have speculated that the feature would be announced at this year's BlizzCon, but – just like Diablo: Reign of Terror being a new game – this is not the case.

Blizzard had previously issued a statement that several Diablo projects were in progress. The first, Diablo 3 that arrives on Nintendo Switch, has already been announced. However, Blizzard did not reveal what the other projects might be. "Some of them will take longer than others, but we may have things to show you later this year," said community leader Brandy Camel.

The BlizzCon 2018 starts on November 2nd.
