Do new iPhones have a secret "beauty mode" that artificially smoothes selfies?

Mr. Bendgate himself Lewis Hilsenteger of Unboxed Therapy decided to switch to the iPhone XS Max this week to test it. Rather quickly, he found something to pick up and it's a strange question, certainly, but that's slightly educational and entertaining to see unfold.

Do the new iPhones actually provide their selfie camera with what is known in the industry as a "beauty fashion"? A mode that softens and deliberately clears your skin and even your clothes selfie to make you lighter and brighter, and therefore better.

Our cover image shows the difference between shooting with 4 different iPhones. While Apple can erase that and say that it's just the new AI used in the camera by the Blah Neural Engine, blah, blah, Hilsenteger has a point.

If the camera has such a feature, give it the option to turn it off. Still, in a 22 capture scenario, it's unlikely that Apple will admit claims online. It would snowball in a new round of class actions. So the problem should be huge for Apple to formally respond to these claims.

This strange story actually started on a Reddit thread, says Hilsenteger. This Google search result shows that there are a lot of Reddit discussions on this story now.

There is no doubt that Hilsenteger is a bit of a disruptive Apple Sh * t, but if you do not take it too seriously, the segment could be worth at least a little laugh at the effort he's making to get things moving .

If you have one of the new iPhone models and an old hands-on model like an iPhone 6 that hangs out at home, test it yourself. Is this a real problem? Is this a secret feature? Apple should be honest enough to admit it and allow users to stop it? Or is it just a mentality claim?

In portrait mode, iPhone X, XS and XS Max users could change the lighting of a photo. So, I do not really see the problem here.

Critics said the big advantage of the new iPhones is the camera. Is Hilsenteger honest or is it a paid success focused on a competitor's new iPhone cameras? Hmm, let me think about who would do such a thing, cough / cough (Samsung / Huawei).
