Dragon Quest XI Patch 1.01 is out

Popular names are no longer prohibited

Square Enix released a Dragon Quest XI patch this weekend, bringing the game to version 1.01 for PS4 and PC players. A number of changes have been made, including giving your hero the name of a person. That's right, he can be Robert or Paul again. The full release notes are listed below.

We have identified a bug that can sometimes cause the game to fail when the player is 300 meters from his horse on the field. This problem has been corrected.
Names of people (such as "Robert") have been removed from the list of prohibited words when selecting the name of the main character at the beginning of the game.

Steam
We have identified a bug that can sometimes cause the game to fail when the player is 300 meters from his horse on the field. This problem has been corrected.
Players can now send the log data to the DRAGON QUEST XI development team if the game fails.
Players can choose from three predefined graphical settings (Low, Medium, High) before launching the game (see below for more details).

It is now possible to move the control selection slider using the left joystick and, by extension, WASD on the keypads, with some rare exceptions on some screens.
It is now possible to select the key to exit the game (by default, the ESC key is configured) and it is also possible to link the ESC key to another function.
More frame rate options have been added; 90 fps, 120 fps, 144 fps as well as the ability to leave the pace unlocked.

A welcome change in PC editing is the ability to change graphics and framerate settings. This is an essential feature for any high-end PC game, and it's a bit odd that Square Enix has not included it since the beginning. Better late than never, right? Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of a Elusive Age is available on PS4 and Steam.
