Dyson is back with some updates from his three-year robot vacuum, the 360 Eye. The 360 Heurist was announced in Beijing today, and brings new features like a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and eight LEDs around the top camera to help guide it into dark rooms, according to Engadget.
It is said that the new processor is 20 times faster than its predecessor, which helps the machine get 60% more details about its environment. This, in turn, is supposed to help the robot to avoid hitting the furniture by 50%. In addition to a number of higher nylon bristles, Dyson also claims that the vacuum has a 20% greater suction power than the original 360 Eye, although both use the same Dyson V2 digital motor at 78,000 rpm.
There are three suction power settings, running time varies from 40 to 80 minutes. Like its predecessor, the robot can be controlled via a complementary application, but the 360 Heurist has also added voice assistant functions. In China, it can be controlled via Tmall Genie, Alibaba's competitor to echo.
Until now, the launch in China is expected in November for 5,490 yuan (about 800 dollars). There is no word yet whether it will be available worldwide. At present, it appears that Dyson has stopped offering the old model on its website, and that it is available only in other stores like Best Buy or eBay. This may be a sign of what will happen.
