At the age of 13, Rishad Jain was not only dubbed the title of the country's best young scientist, he also created a way to improve the effectiveness of the treatments of the One of the leading causes of death in the country.

This week, Jain was named the winner of the 3M Discovery Education 2018 Young Investigators Challenge for his work to develop a new way to accurately locate and track the pancreas in real time during MRI radiotherapy treatments. He tested his algorithm using images of the human digestive system and discovered that he could correctly detect the pancreas with a success rate of 98.9%.

The seventh class competed alongside nine other finalists in a live competition in St. Paul, Minnesota to win the $ 25,000 title and prize.

But if his scientific skills will upset the world of pancreatic cancer treatments, he has a bigger message to send to budding entrepreneurs.

"Failure is a key element of success. The mere fact that an error is made or something does not go well the first time does not mean it's time to give up or it's a failure, "Jain told FOX Business. "Just keep pursuing your ideas."

He actually says that if someone abandons his dream, it is that it becomes a failure.

The native of Portland, Oregon, says perseverance and dedication are the two key features that helped him win this year's title, and he wants other young kids to follow his example.

"I want to encourage people to continue to solve the world's problems and help them work on the ideas they have."

He also says that he intends to become a doctor or surgeon.
