Epic Games was apparently caught off guard by the very difficult challenges of Skull Trooper "Ghost Portal" Back Bling.

When these challenges were revealed, we were all a bit surprised by their difficulty. They won 14 eliminations, played 50 times and dealt 1000 damage to their opponents. in a match (among others you can read on the link above.)

For high level players like Ninja, it's not that difficult. For mere mortals like yours, inflicting 1000 damage in one game is incredibly difficult. Yesterday, I had 5 eliminations in a match and I felt good. But I do not think I ever inflicted 1,000 damage in one game (I'm pretty sure the five eliminations I got were not all fully armored bogies with full protection bars) ; what are the chances?)

It was still cool to see these particularly difficult tasks for a special Back Bling. It would be too difficult for a series of weekly challenges in Battle Pass, but for something like that, a bit off the beaten path, it's okay.

Apparently, it was not the return that Epic was getting. In a post on the Fortnite subreddit today, the developer wrote:

Heya people,

We have seen the confusion around the Skull Trooper Challenge game and will make some changes to the pack in next week's v6.10 update. The goal with the challenges of Ghost Portal was to provide you with a way to earn a cool back through your normal game.

This weekend, we are hosting a Skull Trooper event that will allow you to win the Ghost Portal Back Bling faster by playing 20 games (eliminated or won) over the weekend. Starting Friday, October 12 at 10:00 am ET until Sunday, October 14 at 11:59 pm ET.

You will receive the Back Bling and the challenges will end early next week.

Let the Skull Trooper squad ride and play!

Let it soak a little. First of all, it's cool that we were organizing a special Skull Trooper event. It should be fun.

But to face the challenges of the ghost portal of some of the most difficult we've ever seen, literally play 20 games is . . . a little crazy, to be honest. It almost completely flies the ghost portal of its peculiar rarity. Before, if you had this Back Bling, you were a leading player. You have just played 20 games this weekend. Hurray. It's fun.

Frankly, I do not understand it. Not that it touches me personally (I do not even have the skin of Skull Trooper!) But I do not like change by principle.

What do you think? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook.
