The fact that you have a sophisticated and advanced image sensor capable of recording 4K video at 60 fps does not mean that you can do it on your smartphone. Your phone's processor must be able to support a rather heavy load and, even if it could, your OEM must allow users to take advantage of this feature. When one of these requirements is not met, users are unfortunately deprived of what they should have. Fortunately for Galaxy S8 / S8 + and Galaxy Note 8 owners using Samsung's Exynos processors, it is now possible.
Even though the sensors of Samsung's flagship camera last year were capable, it's only this year that Samsung has activated 4K / 60p video recording. Because it's only with the Snapdragon 845 that Qualcomm has finally taken over this feature as well. That said, the Samsung Exynos 8895 from last year was already capable of this high-resolution, high-speed recording. But to be honest with the variants of Snapdragon 835, Samsung has disabled this feature.
This seems unfair? The good news is that XDA presents a way to get this feature on Samsung's flagship products 2017. Even better news, you do not need to root yourself! You need to load an APK file laterally, so it's best to know what you're signing up for.
After installing the application, simply copy and paste the following lines of code into the application's "Edit Camera Script":
preview-size =% pref_width% x% pref_height%
video size =% video_width% x% video_height%
camera mode = 1
cam_mode = 1
cam mode = 1
video-hrf = 60
preview-fps-range = 60000.60000
Once you have pressed Apply, you are ready to go. Until now, no unwanted incident has been reported. Just be aware that you will get much larger video files than their usual sizes.
