Bethesda was one of the largest major publishers in favor of the Nintendo switch, but that will not apply to Fallout 76. At a PAX Aus conference today, Pete Hines, Marketing Manager at Bethesda, said that Fallout 76 was on the Nintendo console "was not feasible."
That being said, Hines said that all Bethesda studios are considering the Nintendo switch for their new products, but whether it works or not depends on several factors. Hines said the Bethesda management allows individual teams to decide what is best for their games. Bethesda management never gives assignments to studios, which includes the platforms it chooses to support.
"The switch is something I can say with certainty that it's part of every developer conversation about what we're doing in the future because we consider it's about A viable platform, "he said. "If the game works, we want it to be on all possible platforms." Fallout 76 is not because it was not feasible, but honestly, it's not there. developing game for which we have not had any discussion [bringing it to Switch]. & # 39; s it works on the switch, do you have a plan for the switch? & # 39; This is not a warrant. Everything we do needs to be driven by the developers, but we want to make sure that people understand it.
"I appreciate that we are considered the third-party leader in terms of Switch support," he added. "People are going, 'Hey, you have a lot more things [on Switch] than this publisher or publisher. & # 39; That's what I want Bethesda to know. We are guys who will take risks. "
The confirmation that Fallout 76 does not reach Switch shortly after Matt Firor, boss of ZeniMax Online Studios, has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online would not be available on Switch.
Hines also made it clear that another goal of Bethesda is to make money. Bethesda is launching games on Switch because it thinks it will be a smart business decision. "You go where the money is because that's how you stay in business," he said. "What we saw forces us to say,[Switch] is a viable platform for the kind of things we do in the future. "
During the panel, Hines said the game "the next Wolfenstein" was also coming on Switch. It's intriguing because the new standalone game Wolfenstein: Youngblood is only confirmed on PS4, Xbox One and PC. There is also a third big Wolfenstein coming, but no platform has yet been announced. It seems that Hines was referring to one of these games or both.
Bethesda has already released Skyrim, Doom and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus on Nintendo Switch, and Hines said Bethesda's Switch games were selling well. The next legends Doom Eternal and The Elder Scrolls will also be replaced.
During the presentation, Mr. Hines also discussed the fact that closed system partitions between the main consoles should be used throughout the sector.
