‘Fallout: New Vegas’ Mod ‘New California’ Finally Emerges

After seven years in development, one of the biggest and most ambitious Fallout: New Vegas mods is finally ready.

Fallout: New California takes the base New Vegas game, plunks you in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles at Vault 18, adds a buttload of content (including 16,000 lines of dialogue, 48 quests, and a map 2/3 the size of New Vegas), with an “independent story” that takes anywhere from six to 30 hours to complete. As creators Brandan Lee and Rick Hukkanen say, it’s “basically a separate game”.

New California follows the story of the battered Enclave in 2260, as their last squadron is left in California, while the rest head East on their President’s orders. The New California Republic, meanwhile, is experiencing economic hardships, while their political structure is “wracked by deep corruption that goes to the highest office”. A psychotic Raider Warlord, Juan Elsdragon, has shown up and assumed control of a vast Raider Alliance. Meanwhile, you are part of a new generation set to explore the wasteland. Unfortunately, given the current climate, you’ll have problems.

Head over to the mod’s Mod DB page to get this puppy installed. It’s a hefty 4GB, but from the looks of things, it’s so worth it. This should hold you until Fallout 76 hits November 14th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
