Fashion whispering Alexa for Echo as of today

Amazon launches a new Alexa feature for Echo speakers that intelligently reduces the volume of the voice assistant when you whisper a command. The new "Silent Mode" feature should help prevent unexpected loud noises in quiet situations and use a softer voice.

The time to wake up your wife or your partner is over to ask Alexa the time it will do in the morning or to turn off your alarm clock. Whisper Mode is a new feature that allows you to whisper to Alexa, who will whisper her answer.

TechCrunch indicates that Whisper Mode is being rolled out today to Echo customers in the United States. However, there are no parameters to switch. The only way to know if you have already done so is to test it.

That means a lot of whispers to your echo and hoping that Alexa does not scream in return. No luck here at the moment – I always whisper "Alexa, what's the weather like?

If Alexa Whisper Mode works as advertised, we hope Siri will learn the same thing. Like the Echo smart speakers, the Apple HomePod faces the same challenge: abnormally loud responses in quiet situations if the speaker volume is increased too much.

Amazon has also released a preview of its technique for powering the Alexa whisper mode.

Amazon has recently updated its Echo speaker family with Echo Dot and Echo Plus, both redesigned, both inspired by HomePod design. Whisper mode is limited to US English at the moment and is only deployed in the United States.
