Square Enix has announced that it will remasterise the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and that it will be launched in 2019. A short trailer of the game debuted on the PlayStation Lineup Tour, a pre-show Tokyo Game Show. the return of the multiplayer RPG.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was originally released on Nintendo GameCube in 2004. The game asks players to fight enemies and solve puzzles in order to safely pick Myrrhe, a source of energy that protects crystals around the world. In the original version, the multiplayer mode was activated by connecting Game Boy Advances with the help of a link cable. However, the remaster has internet connectivity.
In the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles review of GameSpot, Brad Shoemaker awarded him an 8/10, saying it's "a fun RPG with his own style and a good amount of replay value."
He added: "This does not exactly match the Final Fantasy series, apart from the involvement of crystals and some familiar monsters and magic spells, but it's enough to fend for yourself without any franchise names. Crystal Chronicles plays specifically for those who will appreciate it, and serves as Square's appropriate return to the Nintendo partnership that made the company known so long ago. "
The PlayStation Lineup Tour also brought some surprises, including a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 that shows the world and characters of Big Hero 6. Sora, Donald and Goofy meet Baymax and Hiro to defend San Fransokyo against Heartless.
On top of that, a new trailer for Sekiro: Shadow's Die Twice from From Software has also been released. It shows some of the things that differentiate it from the other great games of the studio, Dark Souls and Bloodborne – especially the crossing. Watch the new Sekiro TGS 2018 trailer here.
