Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns Work at Native 4K Resolution on Xbox One X

Since the announcement of the upward compatibility of the Xbox One, players are asking for some very prominent games. While the majority of requests revolve around the Call of Duty franchise, the Final Fantasy franchise was another much-needed series. Recently, Microsoft announced that Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII would be compatible with earlier versions. In addition, these games would receive an Xbox One X update.

Naturally, when the players heard of this, many wanted to know what the new resolution was on Xbox One X. According to Digital Foundry, Final Fantasy XIII had initially reached a disappointing 1024 x 576p on Xbox 360. The Xbox One X version carries the resolution at 3072 x 1728p. However, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII have received the most significant improvements. The games were running at 720p on Xbox 360, so they are native 4K on Xbox One X.

The three titles look great on the console and it's good to see that these classics are being updated for the modern game. The difference is striking for the least. You notice details that were just not possible on Xbox 360.

Final Fantasy XIII

Players follow Lightning, Snow and other heroes destroyed by an enemy god. Cursed and considered enemies of society, they must count one on the other. Will they find strength in themselves to free themselves from their curse and determine their own destiny or will they succumb to that higher power?

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Three years after Lightning and the others saved Cocoon, some survivors decided to start all over again. The lightning is however not found. When the city is suddenly invaded by monsters, a mysterious named Noel appears to save Serah. Together, they go in search of Lightning.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

The world of Gran Pulse sinks into the sea and what remains is now called Nova Chrysalia. As a Lightning, your mission is to save as many souls as possible in order to bring them into the new world. Throughout the journey, you will meet familiar faces and experience new enemies in all new areas.

Be sure to check out Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, especially if you're a fan of Final Fantasy games. Many Final Fantasy games are not just cult classics, they are also very entertaining to play because of their fascinating intrigues.
