Some vehicles make their debut in force, but disappear in the pack as new competitors overtake them. Others start slowly but improve with time. So, is the Ford Edge 2019 good for me or is it wonderful? We would say that this progresses in the second category. The Edge failed to impress in its infancy and appeared to be a malnourished mid-sized crossover and sub-option. But this is improving every year, culminating in the update of the 2019 Edge Card. First impressions
The overall appearance of the Ford Edge is not dramatically different from the 2018 model. Despite a modified front fascia and several new wheel choices, the chassis and basic design of the Edge have not changed. It's still a five-passenger SUV that is about 10 inches longer than the Ford Escape but about 10 inches shorter than the Ford Explorer.

Some similarly sized crossovers offer a third row of seats, but Ford prefers to keep the five-seater Edge to offer optimal space and comfort. The interior of the Edge is bright and airy, with large windows at the rear of the vehicle and an optional panoramic moonroof. Rear passengers have plenty of room for the legs and head, thanks to the long roof that does not dive before the middle of the loading area. This cargo area is large and accessible, measuring 39.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats or 73.4 cubic feet when these seats are folded.

For 2019, Ford has redesigned the center console. It now has a rotary dial speed selector (instead of a lever) and multiple storage and storage locations for cell phones. The interior is comfortable and usable but not particularly pretty. The color or texture is little used, even in high-grade Titanium trim. And although the finish and finish are solid, they are made with a lot of ordinary plastic. We know, thanks to the F-150 and the new Mustang, that Ford is able to create more elegant interiors. For our route, Ford sent us along the winding and hilly roads of Park City, Utah. The Edge is comfortable and controllable, even in the event of a tight gap. Even with all wheel drive, the Edge is not an off-road vehicle. It's comfortable on speed bumps and dirt lanes, but you will not be tempted to head to the famous red rock canyons of Utah.

The Edge is really an urban cruiser. It's all about space, easy-to-use controls and everyday maneuverability. The driving position is adjustable to suit all driver sizes. The front seats – heated or refreshing – are soft and comfortable. The long windshield pillar, however, poses some visibility problems. Not only in mountain driving, but also in car parks and city maneuvers. There are also quite significant blind spots at the rear. But the standard Ford Co-Pilot360 safety features take care of this with blind spot monitoring, a rear view camera and a rear cross traffic alert on all models, from the SE base to the sporty ST.

Smart Stuff
The standardization of safety features is a good choice for Ford. All 2019 models are also equipped with a braking before and after collision, a pedestrian detection, a front collision warning, a help with track keeping and automatic dipped beam. Optional upgrades include Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist, which monitor lines and traffic, as well as training, but not entirely. You can even use Edge to help you park in parallel and get out of that parking spot. It wants to be useful.

The operating system of Ford will not impress visually. the gauges and the touch screen on the edge are not big or gorgeous in appearance. But they are easy to understand and quick to respond.

Meh or wonderful?
It is possible to choose a lower level SE or SEL version with some options. But the best deal, assuming you're not on the market for the sporty ST, is to use the Titanium, which offers all the security suites, larger wheels and leather-trimmed interior. And that ultimately comes at about the same price as the highly optional low-level model.

The 2019 Ford Edge responds to many complaints about the previous model. It's faster and safer, with more responsive transmission and more impressive technology. For a city-oriented and gear-intensive customer, the Edge's large cargo space and respectable fuel economy make it an interesting addition to the list of tests.
