First impressions of the smartphone with LG V40 ThinQ 5 camera

[ad_1]

The LG V40 ThinQ is LG's latest flagship smartphone. To compete with Samsung, Apple and Google, LG has provided a host of features to this device. The V40 ThinQ has 5 cameras: two front cameras and a triple camera system at the back. There is also a 6.4 inch screen, a headphone jack and a Hi-Fi amp. Here is a transcript of the video.

Antonio Villas-Boas: I've been using the all new LG V40 ThinQ smartphone for a few days and I'm so impressed. Its glass back is really premium and looks great, but it's a total magnet for fingerprints, as with all glass back phones.

One thing in particular about this phone that is really, really impressive is its lightness. It is absolutely lighter than the Galaxy Note9, a rather heavy and heavy phone. The LG V40 is just a very light phone to hold and use. And just because it's light, again, that does not mean it's not a premium. The phone is solid. One of the reasons the phone is so light is that it has a very small battery. The V40 has a battery of 3300 mAh. It's a little weak for such a big and powerful phone. The life of the battery is not superb, it's good. This is not as good as Note9. It has a fast charge which is obviously very useful. It has wireless charge which is very useful.

In true LG fashion, it's LG's signature. They have a kind of high-end Hi-Fi amp inside the phone, which improves audio quality through wired headphones. Now, again, the key here is a wired headset. Yes, the LG V40 has a headphone jack.

But, the real reason this phone stands out, the biggest single feature here is the cameras. All five, to be exact. So, that makes three in the back and two in the front. One of the cameras is simply a normal wide-angle lens, supplied with almost every smartphone. The other lens or one of the other lenses is LG's typical ultra-wide angle lens, which means it captures a very large version of what you see. It's really good. It has less fisheye effect than we have seen in previous LG phones, so it's a very good thing to have. And now, the third goal is ta-da, it's a 2X zoom lens. Now, LG incorporates all these goals into one phone and you no longer have to choose. So, now for the front, we have two cameras as I mentioned earlier. One of them is, again, a normal wide-angle lens that all selfie cameras are. And the other camera is also a very wide-angle lens, which means larger and wider selfies with more people inside. This is a great gesture from LG, for sure, and the simple fact of including so many options and such versatility in this phone and in cameras, there is something for everyone.

I took some pictures of the test. This is nothing definitive or anything but it seems to me good. It suits me really well. LG's cameras on their smartphones have always been a little disappointed in the past. The three-lens system, which is pretty cool, allows you to take a picture with all three lenses at the same time. The quality of the photo on this type of triple shot feature is not yet excellent. I'm wondering if maybe we need some updates from LG to improve it, but for the moment, it's a little out of date. This does not set the aperture correctly and the photos are not very beautiful. It may be something that LG can fix with a software update.

Now, here is another thing that is pretty impressive. Three cameras, no hump. Pretty amazing there when you consider other phones like I do not know, iPhone and its huge camera at the back.

I pronounce this word, ThinQ, with the name of the LG V40. So, the ThinQ part is the smart party type of the LG V40 and LG has put the right side in the camera. So, that's what they call AI cam. So cam artificial intelligence. This means that you point the camera at something and that the camera somehow recognizes what you are pointing at. So, if you point to flowers, for example, a small flower icon appears at the bottom right of the screen and the settings are automatically adjusted. Does it work? Euh, I do not know. Yesterday I took a picture of flowers and there were flowers on the small screen, bottom right of the screen, and the flowers were terrible. They look absolutely awful compared to the classic flower photo that I took with the kind of automatic mode of the phone. I think it's – yes, very good, but the automatic mode on smartphones and the LG V40 is also suitable. He takes great pictures. In fact, I probably prefer to use automatic mode to be honest.

So let's talk about the software. LG, like many other smartphone manufacturers, has put its own skins or software layers as a kind of user interface on Android. And this one is pretty good. In the meantime, I'm not a fan of the kind of extra layer of LG over Android, but it's pretty cool, rather minimal. There are many LG applications, but this is not too shocking, really. Turning the wheels inside the LG V40 ThinQ is a Snapdragon 845 and that means great performance. The phone just goes through my days, has no problem navigating between apps and multitasking is not a problem either. Great performance phone.

The V40 has an OLED display, which means really nice colors, deep blacks and deep. It's really a very good screen, it's also very sharp at 1440p and it's also one of those larger screens with a format ratio of about 19: 9, I think. It's also a big screen at 6.4 inches. Now, it's exactly the same size as the Galaxy Note9. It 's actually a smaller phone than the Galaxy Note9, even though it has the same screen size. The notch is inescapable nowadays. I am sorry the enemies of the ax, the hack is here to stay and it 's fine to be honest. In fact, it works pretty well on Android phones. This means that you can place the notification bar in the notch and that your applications are not managed. The great thing about Android is that you can somehow hide the notch, right? You can turn it off or black colors to look like a notification bar.

LG made an excellent phone with the V40 ThinQ. If you are tired of these very heavy phones, the LG V40 will satisfy you. This is a very good light phone to hold and use. This is particularly attractive for audiophiles or for music lovers or for wired headsets. But, the real reason this phone stands out, the biggest single feature here is the cameras. If you like to have a lot of options for cameras, the LG V40 is definitely for you. After going from the Note9 to the V40, Google home. I have Google Home again when I sweep left, not Bixby Home.
