The Apple Watch Series 4 has dominated the mobile newswire in recent weeks, but according to Fitbit's research, 42% of adults considering buying a portable item are looking for an activity monitor, compared to 36% looking for of a smart watch. The new Fitbit Charge 3 is clearly aimed at this segment of the portable clothing market and meets all your needs from a tracker.
After testing many portable devices over the years, I learned that it was essential for the satisfaction of living the basic experience and having a battery that allows you to live at least one weekend. The Fitbit Charge 3 provides the essentials, a battery life of a week and seems to disappear while staying on your wrist.

Equipment
Although I use a smart watch or a GPS sports watch all the time, the use of the Fitbit Charge 3 has been a little refreshing. I started using activity tracking tapes years ago and their functionality has evolved considerably since then. Honestly, there has not been a ton that I miss with the Fitbit Charge 3 at the wrist instead of a smart watch.
Charge 3 itself is an attractive aluminum and glass piece with a grayscale OLED touch screen. At first I was confused because there is no button on Charge 3 and in its place is a notch on the left that indicates where you need to touch and activate the capacitive button.
The retail package Charge 3 comes with flexible bands of small and large size. The outside of the group has a cool pattern shape and is easily snapped onto the body of the charge 3. The group also has an aluminum clasp. The included group is very comfortable and well built.
Fitbit also offers options for Horween leather, sports and woven tapes. I've tested the night blue leather ($ 49.95) and woven carbon ($ 34.95). Both look and feel good on the wrist and are very well made. Neither is done for high intensity workouts and do not have the same level of water resistance as in the 3 load itself.
A USB-A cable with a clasp end that attaches to the Fitbit Charge 3 is included in the retail sale.
The amount of data captured by Fitbit Charge 3 and the Fitbit ecosystem is one of the main reasons why such a charge could meet most of my daily needs.
Charge 3 vs Charge 2
Although the load 3 may initially be very similar to the load 2, there are some essential differences even if the load 3 is launched at the same introductory price as the load 2.
In Charge 3, you'll find a 40% larger touch screen, a seven-day battery life instead of five, and a button replaced with a capacitive touch zone that has allowed Fitbit to increase resistance to water from this activity monitor.
3-band loader software
After you load and connect your Fitbit Charge 3 to your Android or iOS device, the first screen that appears when you rotate your wrist is the watch face. There are currently five clock dials from which to choose in the Fitbit applications gallery.
Swipe down from the dial to view notifications and from top to bottom to view the built-in dashboard on which you can continue to drag to view all items in your dashboard. Slide your finger from right to left to access the applications you have installed on your Charge 3.
Current available applications include timers, settings, alarms, exercises, relaxation and weather. Charge 3 does not run the version of the Fitbit operating system that we see on the Versa and Ionic versions, but there is a basic application store, so we could see some of it. 39, other applications in the future.
Quickly press the left inductive button to return to the previous screen. Long press this button to choose to enable or disable the quick view screen and enable or disable notifications.

PC / Mac software
You can use the Fitbit website to view your data, but the richest experience is present in the Fitbit app that is found on both Windows and Apple computers. As the smartphone app, the Fitbit PC app launches with the dashboard. You can customize what appears on the dashboard and this is reflected in the load 3.
Other PC software tabs include challenges, tips, community, and notifications. You can also access the settings of your Fitbit ecosystem for your ionic and other equipment. By clicking on various dashboard elements you will also get more details and you can even dive into a few more layers to see all the details of the data you have collected. The Fitbit software contains an impressive amount of data collected by the Charge 3 software.
Smartphone Software
There are iOS and Android apps for Fitbit. The Fitbit app basically reflects what we see in desktop software with a slightly different user interface.
In addition, you can configure the notifications of your smartphone for Ionic. Options include calls, text messages, calendar events, e-mail and application notifications. On Android, you have full control over the applications for which notifications appear on the Fitbit Charge 3. Notifications are very basic and simply provide you with the information in a few lines.
Price and competition
You can buy the Fitbit Charge 3 on Sunday, October 7th for $ 149.95. You can buy one in black aluminum / graphite and aluminum blue gray / pink gold. Each pack includes standard small and large strips.
Special Edition versions, compatible with Fitbit Pay and NFC, will be available in November for $ 169.95. These will be available in lavender / rose gold woven aluminum and frosted white sport / graphite aluminum.

The Fitbit Charge 3 does not have a built-in GPS, but it does support the connected GPS. It uses the GPS receiver of your phone to connect and follow your exercises with the GPS. I tested the Fitbit Charge 3 with my grade 9 and it worked very well, consistently following my exercise with the key information displayed on the screen.
One of the main strengths of the Fitbit Charge 3 with its PurePulse heart rate technology is advanced sleep tracking. With something as light and comfortable as the Charge 3, it's easy to sleep with. The Fitbit Charge 3 has a relative SpO2 sensor that will eventually be activated and that can help track health issues, such as sleep apnea.
There is no way to choose a quick answer from your Android phone. Notifications are very basic. They can be useful for sorting messages, but that's about it.
Fitbit Charge 3 does a great job of tracking your daily activities and your sleep by also allowing you to follow exercises with some basic information that is presented to you during your use. It is very comfortable and can be worn several days between refills.
