Ford GT recall on the risks of leakage of fluid and fire

It seems that no vehicle, as powerful as it is in exclusive volume, is immune from recalls. The last example is the Ford GT Supercar, which will be recalled due to a problem that could lead to a fire.

Ford says the hydraulic valves located under the GT's adjustable rear spoiler could let out hydraulic fluid. The liquid would leak on the exhaust gases, which could cause a fire if the exhaust gases are hot. In fact, Ford claims to have been informed of such a fire in a Ford GT in Germany. Fortunately, this fire caused neither accident nor injury.

To remedy the recall, dealers will install a Ford GT software update designed to prevent "excessive" hydraulic fluid pressure on the affected valves. Some cars may also receive new pump o-rings and a hydraulic fluid check valve, if they are not already equipped with the equipment.

The recall of the Ford GT concerns 194 North American cars, including 176 in the United States and the remaining 18 in Canada. This is just about every car in the US market because Ford claims to have delivered 89 GTs in 2017 and has delivered 102 to the US since the beginning of the year. Ford did not specify the number of GTs sold abroad. It applies to GT model years 2017 and 2018 built between December 20, 2016 and July 31, 2018.
