Ford Motor Company has confirmed that the electrified Mustang is in preparation, with a new video advertisement posted on the company's global YouTube channel, providing insight into the future of the galloping horse.
The video in question, commented by actor Bryan Cranston, winner of an Emmy Award, explains the commitment of the American brand to innovate with electric and autonomous technologies.
Although the duration of the advertisement does not exceed one minute, it is only a two-second break that gives us a glimpse of what appears to be an electrified Mustang.
A single frontal photo shows a stylized version of Mustang's iconic face, with a neon blue logo and a flat grille that testifies to its electrified powertrain.
Ford has announced it plans a fully electric crossover vehicle by 2020 at the Detroit auto show next January, the first of 16 100% electric vehicles to be deployed worldwide by 2022.
At the time, Ford mistakenly used the electric blue "Mach 1" logo as the platform's nickname, recalling the high-performance variants of the Mustang from the late 1960s to 2004.
Since then, Ford has stated that the Mach 1 nameplate is only a functional title and would not be officially used for an EV unless the fans of the brand approved it.
Whether or not the vehicle featured in the latest Mustang teaser is the next incarnation of the famous Mach 1 badge is open to speculation.
