Ford is slowly releasing more details about its new small truck that will come into production later this year. The 2019 Ford Ranger will produce 270 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque with its 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, announced today the builder.
The Ranger produces more torque than any other mid-size gasoline van on the market. This includes trucks with stronger V-6 engines. The Chevrolet Colorado V-6 engine has a maximum output of 275 lb-ft, while the Toyota Tacoma V-6 exceeds 265 lb-ft. The Colorado diesel, however, pumps 369 lb-ft.
At launch, the four-cylinder will be the only engine available on the Ranger here in the United States. It is not known if Ford will launch a diesel at a later date. All Rangers in our market are associated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford also disclosed the towing and payload numbers. When equipped with an optional towing package and a trailer brake controller, the Ranger has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds, more than any other gasoline truck in the world. its category. The Colorado and Tacoma gasoline engines reach 7,000 and 6,800 pounds respectively, although Colorado diesel can carry up to 7,700 pounds. The ranger's maximum payload is 1,860 pounds, the highest rating of any current medium-sized pickup truck.
As we have already mentioned, the 2019 Ford Ranger starts at $ 25,395. Although it does not happen at dealers before the beginning of next year, order books are already open. Three trim levels are available: XL, XLT and Lariat.
