Ford Ranger Raptor does not come to the United States at the moment

After the announcement of the expansion of production and sales of Ford GT, Hermann Salenbauch, Ford Performance's vehicle line manager, spoke to us, as well as other journalists, of Ford Performance. Among the topics discussed was the Ford Ranger Raptor and he had bad news for US fans of the small wild pickup: despite the Americans' love for the Raptor pickups, Ford was not the only one. The intention to bring him to the United States.

He explained some factors that caused the company not to plan an American version. It is based on the global Ranger, and putting the Raptor version to US standards would apparently take enough time and money to make it prohibitively expensive.

Although he did not mention it specifically, one of the big problems would probably be the Ranger Raptor's powertrain, a bi-turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel not offered here. He also noted that the Raptor Raptor was really developed for places where the F-150 was neither available nor popular, so that all regions could have a Raptor. Here in America, the F-150 is obviously very popular and the F-150 Raptor is in great demand. At the GT announcement today, Ford executives said the F-150 Raptor only stays in dealer lots for an average of 20 days.

These are the only reasons why Salenbauch explained why the Ranger Raptor is not intended for the United States, but we can think of others. The cost of the Raptor, a problem too close to that of the F-150 Raptor, could be a serious problem. The closest analogue of the Raptor Raptor's US market, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, starts at around $ 42,000, which is only about $ 8,000 less than the Ford F-150 Raptor, which costs about $ 50,000. For consumers, this is not this a lot of jumping to get a bigger and harder truck. And for Ford, given that dealers spend less time than 20 days, why bother to create less profitable competition in-store, while people seem to be rather happy to spend $ 50,000 for an F-150 Raptor ?

Of course, we would still like to see the Raptor Ranger come here. We love the variety and the greatest number of fun vehicle options possible, but our hearts are not generally conducive to business decisions. One thing to note is that Salenbauch did not tell the Raptor Ranger would never Come on, and he and other Ford executives said they were always listening to feedback and open to new models. So maybe someone might show up at some point, but at least in the near future we will not see a Raptor Ranger in the United States.
