The next Fortnite patch, v6.10, is coming soon. Epic announced on Twitter that the downtime would start at 4:00 pm and 1:00 am Brussels time on Tuesday, October 16th. At this point, release notes will be available to explain the new features and fixes. [Update] Time to stop has begun, as Epic deploys the update. You can read the release notes for the Fortnite 6.10 update here.

We already know at least one of the new features of the update. The new in-game tournaments will reward players with pins and prizes, against each other, across all platforms and control systems. The first tournament of this type will begin this week, with the game in solo. Several more are planned for the coming weeks, including those on the theme of Salty Springs and Tomato Temple, and a Fortnite Squad Friday night tournament that will run every Friday night until the end of November. We can also see the Quadcrusher vehicle wrapped in this update.

Epic did not detail the other features that might come with the update, but the tournament feature certainly seems to be the centerpiece. We may also have more clues about the future, because the latest update 6.02 has leaked some appearances to come.

This comes just after Epic has expanded Fortnite's base of players by making the Android version free for everyone without invitation. The studio just deactivated the guided missile while it was investigating a problem. So we will see if it comes back in the 6.10 update. The tournaments will allow you to show off your skills, but we feel that Ellen will not be able to hang up.
