The Fortnite Halloween event this year has started in style with "Fortnitemares", an ongoing global event that features special challenges and scary cosmetics. The event takes place in the Battle Royale and Save the World modes. So, no matter what flavor of Fortnite you prefer, you can find something to do.
What is it?
Fortnitemares is a global event that runs from October 23rd to November 26th and was introduced in Hotfix 6.20 update. It offers exclusive cosmetics and special world events with new enemies, including much to do in both modes.
In a special Battle Royale Playlist in PvP mode, you'll encounter cubic monsters that work very similarly to Save the World zombie-like creatures. The mysterious cube has spawned this legion of AI cube monsters, which will attack you if you get too close. Defeating them can give you random loot and shield power. This is especially the first time that PvP mode is invaded by AI enemies. Special challenges, some of which are aimed at defeating these enemies of AI, can bring you a whole new kind of cosmetic items and special equipment.
Separately, in the Save the World PvE mode, Hexsylvania comes back with new story quests. Just log in to Save the World at the Fortnitemares event to win some skins. Save the World is not free this year as planned, but the packs of the founders are currently at half price.
Fortnitemares Battle Royale Challenges
The challenges of Fortnitemare are set to alternate every few days until the end of the event period. You will need to check regularly to maximize your rewards. Currently, the first set of challenges is live. Many explain themselves, but click below to get more detailed guides on more complex challenges.

New articles and cosmetics
The most important novelties of Fortnitemares are the permanent awards, including a brand new type of cosmetics. The centerpiece is the new Deadfire skin, a "reactive skin" that changes according to your game in a given match and will cost you 2,000 V-Bucks. She is joined by Shackled Stone Back Bling and Dark Shard (1,200 V-Bucks), both of which are "reactive cosmetics".
In addition to this skin, Epic also introduced the Shackled Stone Back Bling to accompany it, and the Dark Shard Pickaxe can also be found in the game store. These two items are called "Reactive Cosmetics". Deadfire skin is available for 2,000 V-Bucks, while the Dark Shard Harvest Tool costs 1,200 V-Bucks.
The 6.20 update has also added a new Six Shooter weapon and the ability to redeploy gliders.
