Bypassing the Google Play store, Epic was not a real bet, since Fortnite is essentially a license to print money. But even with its own standards, the game displays impressive numbers three weeks after hitting Android.
In a blog post published this week, Epic noted that the popular sandbox survival game has hit 23 million players on Google's mobile operating system, spread across 15 million APK installations. These figures arrive 21 days after the launch of the title on the OS.
This, like all Fortnite news, means a lot of money for Epic. This is especially the case here, since the launch means that the gaming company cuts the 30 percent of Google.
In addition to the numbers, Epic has pointed to some of its efforts to combat potential malware threats – an additional problem since the game is not distributed via the official Google channel.
"So far, Epic has launched actions on 47 unauthorized" Fortnite for Android "websites," writes the company, "many of which appear to be run by the same bad actors. We continue to monitor the situation for the purpose of disconnecting or restricting access by taking advantage of Epic's connection to a network of anti-fraud partners. "
