It’s spookier than ever in Fortnite: Battle Royale right now. Halfway through Season 6, we’re just getting started with the special ‘Fortnitemares’ Halloween event.
That means extra special challenges on top of the usual Free and Battle Pass challenges. Read up on how to solve those here.
Meanwhile, this week’s challenges are interesting ones, largely boiling down to vehicle stuff and doing loads of damage to your enemies. Let’s take a look at Fortnite’s Season 6, Week 5 challenges and then talk about the best way to solve each one, level up your Battle Pass to Tier 100 and unlock the awesome Dire werewolf skin.
Remember, if you complete all of Week 5’s challenges you’ll unlock a hidden loading screen which leads to a free Battle Pass tier. We’ll get to that shortly as well.
Free Challenges
- Record a speed of 27 or more on different Radar Signs (0/5) (5 battle stars)
- Jump through flaming hoops with a Shopping Cart or ATK (0/5) (5 battle stars)
- Stage 1: Deal damage with Tactical Shotguns to opponents (0/200) HARD (3 battle stars)
- Stage 2: Deal (200) damage with Pump Shotguns to opponents (HARD)
- Final Stage: Deal (200) damage with Heavy Shotguns to opponents (HARD)
Battle Pass Challenges
- Eliminate an opponent closer than 5m away (5 battle stars)
- Deal damage with SMGs to opponents (0/500) (5 battle stars)
- Minigun Eliminations (0/2) HARD (10 battle stars)
- Stage 1/3: Deal damage with standard Pistols to opponents (0/200) HARD (3 battle stars)
- Stage 2: Deal (200) damage with Hand Cannons to opponents (HARD)
- Final Stage: Deal (200) damage with Six Shooters to opponents (HARD)
I’ll update this post with the second and third stages once those are revealed for both multi-stage challenges. Unfortunately, these are just "deal damage" challenges, which aren’t particularly interesting. They can be fun, though! Especially lately. More on that in a second.
Vehicle Challenges
To find out where all the different Radar Signs are, and how to drive through them at the whopping speed of 27 mph, check out our location guide here.
To find out where all those Rings of Fire are and how to jump through them in a Shopping Cart or ATK, check out our guide here.
Finally, here’s where to find the hidden Week 5 ‘Hunting Party’ Battle Star (worth one whole tier.)
Damage and Eliminations Challenges
The rest of the Week 5 challenges boil down to dealing damage and getting eliminations/kills. This rewards gameplay skill over creative thinking, scavenging and so forth. It’s good to have a mix of both, in my humble opinion, but there really could not be a better time for damage challenges than right now.
Why is that, you ask? One simple, glorious thing: Disco Domination, baby.
In Disco Domination you don’t just die and then start a new match. Instead, you respawn over and over and over again, flying back into the fray. This means you can wrack up all the damage and eliminations you could possibly ever need. Simply loot up before going into the mix, and then head for the center dance floor. (Yes, strategically you should go take the outer four, or at least two of the outer four, so that your team can make points, but it’s the center dance floor where the vast majority of action takes place.)
For this week’s challenges, you need to deal damage with Tactical Shotguns and standard Pistols (so nothing fancy) and you need minigun eliminations. Just find those guns and head into battle. Shoot, kill, die, respawn, rinse, repeat. A few matches should get a bunch of these challenges (and any you need to wipe up from past weeks) completed easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Update: It’s come to my attention that some challenges aren’t registering in Disco Domination. It’s hard to place what exactly is going on as I’ve completed plenty of damage-based ones in this mode. I’ve seen reports of the Shooting Galleries not working, but have not confirmed this myself.
Perhaps just as importantly, good luck finding a standard Pistol in this mode. You may have to bust out that challenge in Solos or Squads (alas, no 50v50 at the moment!) I still think for the rest of these Disco is the right mode to knock these out as fast as possible, especially something like Minigun eliminations (yuck, gross) which just work better if you have crowds of enemies to fire at and some cover provided by your own team. Miniguns are great in modes like 50v50 but less so in standard battle royale.
In any case, let me know if you’re seeing any weird anomalies in Disco Domination with these challenges and we’ll try to get to the bottom of it.
