Fortnite v5.40 for Android adds voice chat, broader device support, High Stakes event

Epic Games is currently deploying Fortnite v5.40 on all platforms. The central element of this update is the new Limited Time Getaway Mode as part of the High Stakes event. In this mode, players fall on the island in teams of four, as usual, but are looking for four safes scattered throughout the island's supply points. The first four teams who secure the prize in a safe and head for a van are the winners.

Here is the plan. Four safes were loaded into drops of supply scattered around the island, each carrying a great jewel. You and your crew must locate a safe, pick up the price inside and escape with the goods while fighting against the enemies. The first four teams head to a van with a jewel and a winning getaway! Along with that, Epic has introduced the new Wild Card skins, several event-related challenges, and the new Grappler weapon that allows players to quickly escape a situation.

For Android users, this update is particularly noteworthy for a few reasons. In addition to several other improvements to the game on Android, all listed below, Epic Games has added a voice chat to this update. For a game like Fortnite, being able to chat with your team is crucial to getting a Royal Victory, so it will definitely be an addition that users will appreciate.

The beta version of Fortnite also supported support for other Motorola, HTC and Sony devices. Epic also calls the essential phone, but this has been taken care of from day one. Presumably, this is an optimization due to Android Pie update, or simply an improved support of the device. The full mobile changelog follows, and Fortnite v5.40 should be available now on all platforms.

Bugfix

• Fixed some screen resolution issues in some Android environments.
• The screen no longer expires without the input of the user on iOS.
• Adjustment of steering sensitivity on vehicles.
• Players can now thank the bus driver.
• Gyroscopic controls are now usable regardless of the orientation on iOS.
• A turbo-construction problem sometimes stuck when using the shortcut bar for turbo-build.
• Fixed the challenges button to use big buttons on the mobile.
• Fixed an issue where the switch between pickaxe / weapon did not allow to change weapons.
• Street Racer Bike Gliders mobile escape issues have been repaired. The bikes must be clean now.
• No longer be able to interact with the user interface behind the screen challenges.
• Players who encounter problems accessing the home screen suddenly when they press on certain Samsung Galaxy devices can do the following to resolve the problem.
