Fortnite's most frustrating shotgun is about to become a fool again

Epic has announced that epic and legendary variants of the infamous Fortnite shotgun are on their way, possibly with this week's update coming in between Tuesday and Thursday. The update follows the disputed removal of the glider redeployment system in the run-up to Fortnite season 7.

We do not know the damage number yet, but we expect everyone to do more than 10 damage per pellet. These details tend to happen with the weekly patch notes, but if they behave the same way as the shotgun, while inheriting the promised rifle buff, these suckers will have a kick. Let me explain.

The current operation of shotguns is based on a system of fixed pellets. Depending on the type of shotgun, every time you shoot at an enemy, it takes bullet damage as its body overlaps the invisible pellet grid in your line of sight. Pull the trigger and you'll see what pellets have been hit.

At the present time, it means that it is possible to cut enemies with one or two lean pellets. Coupled with a latency hiccup – discrepancies between what you see when you aim and what the server saves – and you get the reputation of the shotgun for causing seven pathetic damage to what seems to be pure and simple.

The improved buff should alleviate some of the pain. According to a tweet from Eric Williamson, Design Manager at Fortnite, all shotguns will do at least three shots of damage.

Williamson followed in a Reddit thread, claiming that the blue pump would also cause 10 damage per pellet, while the green pump would cause 9.5 pellet damage. The damage reduction will be increased to avoid abusing this minimum of 30 ranged damage, but this is good news overall. It will be harder to complain about doing only 30 damage instead of seven. Combined with the 2x head multiplier, the blue pump will be able to hit all players with shields and health at one go. .

The goal of accuracy is also rewarded, although it is disturbing that the blue pump and its epic and legendary variants will be able to play in one-shot mode. I suspect that this damage will be recovered a little before the end of the season.

With the full range of pump rifle variants and the expected improvements, it's hard to imagine where the double barrel is. There is a good chance that the boom is getting closer and closer, but who knows? Epic did strange things.
