Fossil Unveils First Affordable Smart Watch With New Energy Saving Chip – Tech News

Android users have been looking for an equivalent to the latest Apple Watch, which has impressed many people with its narrow glasses and ECG heart rate monitor. The new Sport Smart Watch from Fossil may well become the closest.

While most other Android smartwatches run on a two-year-old Qualcomm chip, the latest Fossil model is the first affordable smartwatch to integrate the new Snapdragon Wear 3100, a more efficient chip that even ensures powerful users do not find out of battery the end of the day.

Shortly after the release of the Montblanc Summit 2, which also offered the Snapdragon Wear 3100 for just under $ 1,000 (RMB 4,991), Fossil unveiled its new model at a quarter of its price, featuring the same technology allowing to save the battery.

Most current smartwatches will struggle to survive more than one day of intensive use involving GPS tracking and heart rate monitoring.

But for those who forget their charger, the 3100 chip will go off in a special mode that manages to rule out two days of basic timing of the last percent of the battery.

The sport is available in six colors and fits a large number of straps with a wide variety of styles.

Judging by the dimensions, the Fossil Sport will be no worse placed than the thinner wrists, which is a problem for smartwatches usually voluminous, designed largely for men.

Fossil claims that the sport has a thickness of 12 mm, not much higher than an average analog watch, while the diameter of the dial is 41 mm or 43 mm.

As with most new models, Sport incorporates NFC technology, which allows users to pay with their watch in countries that support Google Pay. – dpa
