Galaxy Note 9 catches fire in a woman's handbag – BGR

Since the famous Galaxy Note 7, two years ago, a phone that Samsung claims never existed, we did not have a battery incident involving Samsung handsets. Samsung has reviewed its battery quality assurance process after the recall, reassuring customers that battery fires will be a thing of the past. More recently, Samsung Mobile's director, DJ Koh, told reporters that the Galaxy Note 9 battery was safe. But that must have happened sooner or later. A Samsung phone caught fire in a woman's handbag, and it was the brand new Galaxy Note 9.

The woman, real estate agent Diane Chung, has already sued Samsung, according to the NYPost. The phone became "extremely hot" on September 3, while Chung was in an elevator, showing court documents. She placed the handset in her bag, then "she heard a whistling and howling and she noticed a thick smoke" in her purse.

She put the bag on the floor of the elevator and tried to empty it, burning her fingers in the process. "Extremely panicked," Chung began breaking the elevator buttons, as the thick smoke made it hard to see.

Once in the lobby, she threw the phone out of the elevator, and someone else caught her with a rag and placed her in a bucket of water. # 39; water.

Chung says that the fire prevented him from contacting customers and ruined everything in his bag. She said that the experience was "traumatic" and that Samsung should have known that the phone was "defective". She seeks damages from Samsung and a restraining order prohibiting sales in Note 9.

Samsung is investigating the case and claims that the fire of Note 9 is an isolated incident. "We have not received any reports of similar incidents involving a Galaxy Note9 device and we are investigating this case," said a Samsung spokesman.

Although the incident is unfortunate, we remind you that there is always a theoretical risk that any battery-powered electronic device will encounter battery problems, including fires or battery swelling. Most of the time, a phone battery explodes because of damage, although it is not yet known if this is the case here. Anyway, that does not mean that the Galaxy Note 9 is defective, and we have not seen any other Fire Report Note 9 yet. But, since it is a Note 9 phone, it is certainly not very good for Samsung.
