The Galaxy Note 9 may have been praised by the critics, but Samsung has been forced to solve a number of software issues. Now, the South Korean company may have a hardware problem to deal with.

The latest issue with the Galaxy Note 9 is the fragility of the S-Pen. The stylus is one of the key points of the differentiation between not only Note 9 and the rest of the Galaxy range, but also between Note 9 and a number of competing phablets from other manufacturers. This year, the iteration of the S-Pen uses for the first time Bluetooth connectivity, opening up many communication options from camera shutters, control of presentations and better interactions.

Many users have also had discussions with discussions on the official forums, Reddit, XDA Developers and Twitter. Piunika Web analyzed the reports:

It should be noted that some reports also indicate that a non-fatal fall of the phone (as on a carpet) also caused a breakdown of the S-Pen. For its part, Samsung has proposed substitutes in some cases, but – the damage being physical – obtaining such an approval has not been a pleasant experience for the concerned users.

Samsung is already struggling with a variety of Galaxy Note 9 issues, including long camera delays and "frozen" softkeys in the TouchWiz user interface. These can potentially be handled by means of live software updates, but a physical problem with a Note handset is a more complex solution.

Fortunately, the S-Pen is a detachable accessory. Unlike the sealed battery of Note 7, which has finally recalled a series of phones, replace the S-Pen with an improved device is not an easy task, it's rather expensive, in terms of cold liquidity reached at the reputation.

The last thing Samsung needs is to attach another physical flaw in the design process in the name of the note. Not only would this hurt the sales of Note 9, but, with the Galaxy Note range potentially on the hash block, the S-Pen could be the last straw that kills the note.
