Game Guide Designer Prima Games closes its doors

[ad_1]

Given the fluid nature of the games and major changes made by the updates, the idea of a physical guide created and printed upon the release of a game seems outdated. But Prima has devoted a lot of time and effort to her guides, featuring tons of art and graphics, acting for many as a coffee table book for their favorite games.

Although Prima has adopted online guides through its website, it was not enough to overcome the traffic that IGN and GameFaq would attract. For example, googling "Red Dead Redemption 2" lists six different websites before landing at Prima Games. The company bought and absorbed its main competitor, Brady Games, in 2015, and even offered guides via Steam at some point in order to diversify its activities.

It's unfortunate to see Prima Games shut its doors, but it's really hard to beat the free information. And there is yet another actor in the space of physical video game guides, Piggyback, but he does not publish as many guides as Prima has done.
