Last summer, Google introduced Bitmoji from its own angle with the launch of "Mini" stickers in its keyboard app, Gboard, which optimize machine learning to create illustrated stickers based on your selfie. Today, Google is expanding the mini stickers with the launch of what it calls "Emoji Minis", ie stickers the size of an emoticon that you alike.
Similar to the initial launch of Mini stickers, new emoji are also created using machine learning techniques, says Google.
The company said the idea was to give people a way to use the emoticons they think best represent who they really are.
"The Emoji Minis are designed for those who may have looked into Emoji's eyes and did not see each other again," Google explained in a blog post. "These emoji sticker versions that you use every day are customizable to allow you to make them quite like you."
This means that your emoticons can have hair of different colors, such as green, blue or gray hair, or piercings. He may wear a hat, hat or glasses.
Google says that it uses neural networks to suggest skin tones, hairstyles, and accessories that you can then adjust. You can choose a color for your hair, your facial hair or select different types of headgear and glasses. You can also add freckles or wrinkles, if you wish.
The result is not a simple emoji, but a selection of options. For example, you can use your custom emoji as a zombie, a mage, heart eyes, crying eyes, shrugs and all the others.
This is the third style of mini stickers, introduced for the first time last year. These stickers already exist in two other styles: a more expressive "expressive" and a more "sweet" one.
While this may seem like a minor thing, creative emoji – and more specifically personalized emoji – can be a big attraction for messaging applications. Apple announces its intelligent Animoji and personalized Memoji as key features of its new Face ID handsets. The company says the new Emoji Minis are available in all Gboard languages and countries, both on iOS and on Android, as of today.
