Does NVIDIA plan to call RTX 2080 Ti again?
Following the announcement of NVIDIA which finally admitted that something was wrong with the RT RTX 2080 FE, it seems that they have now stopped selling the product in question on their own store. line. However, just like the "announce" problem, they do it discreetly and try to do it discreetly. Up to here at least.
If you visit the GeForce online store, you will notice that the RTX 2080 Ti is no longer listed. Although the current product page is always displayed, once you have clicked the "Buy All" button, the result will be null (see screen capture below). It is also not on the side, only RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 are present.
Is the problem bigger than NVIDIA would like to admit?
Until now, NVIDIA has not been very clear about what is really wrong with the RTX 2080 Ti. Apart from the discussion thread on the GeForce forums, there was no official statement or press release. This forum message also comes from a forum moderator, and not from one of the most familiar business representatives.
Although we know that NVIDIA offers a new variant of the card to users with problems. The user noxqzs on the forums HardOCP has even published a photo of the different packaging of this new version. Confirming what our sources told us earlier, it has a darker color.
The fact that it is now removed from the list on the online store suggests that it is a more serious problem. Bigger than NVIDIA would like to admit. If only a few "first test failures" are defective, then why deselect the line completely? Especially if there are new variants ready to be replaced, or even new non-defective variants en route.
If something goes wrong with the GPU itself, it's up to NVIDIA to admit it to consumers. Instead of trying to hide the problem.
