Master & Dynamic, a New York-based audio company, has unveiled its first pair of wireless headphones, and it could give Apple's AirPods a chance.
The new genuine Master & Dynamic MW07 wireless headphones are certainly more expensive than the $ 300 AirPods – Apple's wireless headphones cost just $ 170 – but the most noticeable difference between the two products lies in the 39; audio.
Personally, I have no problem about how AirPods sounds. I like their sound, in fact. But the MW07 wireless headphones sound better. MW07s can become much more powerful than AirPods and offer a deeper and richer audio experience in general.
I would compare the audio difference here with the gap between Apple's wired headphones – the ones that come with every iPhone – and a pair of Beats headphones: Apple's solution is not bad at all, but Beats can become stronger and better range. To drive the Beats comparison house, the MW07 wireless headphones are significantly heavier than the AirPods.
Here is a summary of other things that I like a lot about the MW07 wireless headphones:
– They come in four colors: "Tortoise shell", "gray terrazzo", "steel blue" and "matte black". AirPods are only available in white.
– When you remove one of the headphones from your ear, it automatically puts your music in pause.– Just like the AirPods.
– All controls involve small physical buttons on the earphones, easy to find and memorize.: A button above the right headset can play or pause your music, skip to the next song, return to the previous song, or activate a voice assistant. And the left earbud has a rocker volume. AirPods to have all these functions, but you can not control them all at the same time; you must choose, in your settings in advance, the commands you want to associate with certain touch functions.
– The case is charging your earphones quickly. The case can charge 50% of its capacity in just 15 minutes, and you can reach 100% in 40 minutes. This is pretty much in line with Apple's AirPods, which charge quickly.
– The ear cups come with five different sized tips – from very small to very large – and two optional wings to form a seal with your ear canal for a better audio experience.. I have tried many other headphones and headphones that offer tips and wings, but these are by far the most comfortable that I have used. I did not even have to change the default wings and tricks that appeared on the headsets!
– The music sounds really good. The focus is on the bass, which is not easy to produce for small headphones, but everything seems clear and crisp. I immediately noticed a big difference when I put these headphones after listening with my AirPods.
To be honest, there are certain aspects of MW07 wireless headphones that I do not like so much:
– The atria are relatively large. They are not bad at ease to wear, and they also look good (in my opinion), but they look almost like little Bluetooth headsets.
– The metal case is charming, but easily shows the stains. The AirPods case from Apple is mainly made of white plastic, so that marks and fingerprints do not display easily. But the case of Master & Dynamic for the MW07 headsets is a fingerprint magnet.
I will do a full review of the MW07 wireless headphones, but for now, my first impressions are mostly positive. If you are considering an alternative to AirPods, Master & Dynamic has created a robust solution.
