Chevrolet has introduced a brand new trim to its mid-size truck in the Colorado ZR2 Bison 2019, which she sees as a "brand new performance variant" to accompany its many other offerings.
The General Motors brand says that the ZR2 Bison trim is its first collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles, which she calls "a manufacturer of high-end off-road spares". Together, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, GM mid-size pickup truck options, accounted for 145,102 sales in 2017. At mid-year 2018, they combined 86,723 sales.
The ZR2 Bison trim includes maximum undercarriage protection for off-road driving and driving on "rocky and jagged" terrain. It will feature five skid plates covering the engine oil sump, fuel tank, transfer case and front and rear locking differentials. According to Chevy, American Expedition Vehicles has developed a stamped steel front and rear bumper, which contains standard fog lights.
"More and more enthusiasts are discovering that Colorado is ideal for off-road driving, especially overland travel," said Sandor Piszar, Marketing Director for Chevy Trucks. The Colorado Z71 offers a full line of off-road equipment, the handling of an intermediate truck and the driving range of a diesel engine exclusive to the category.
"The Colorado ZR2 offers even greater off-road capability with front and rear locking differentials and class-exclusive Multimatic DSSV dampers, and now Bison is offering its customers an even more extreme off-road truck ready to tackle your next adventure. "
The Chevrolet Colorado 2018 pickup starts just north of $ 20,000 and its price range depends on trim and additions north of $ 40,000. The Colorado can be equipped with the 3.6-liter V6 engine developing 308 horsepower or the 2.8-liter Duramax turbo diesel engine.
The ZR2 Bison will be equipped with a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo diesel engine capable of producing 186 horsepower and 369 pounds of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Chevy says its new mid-size offer will be available from January 2019.

The Colorado ZR2 model from Chevrolet was named Cars.com's Best Pick-up in 2018 at the award ceremony on the Fillmore Downtown Detroit website on January 16th. The ZRT adds 3.5 inches to the standard Colorado ready for the road: over $ 40,000 plus trim.
