For people who prefer a more traditional smartphone look, we've added an option to hide the screen cutout (notch).

According to Made By Google's Twitter account, the company has added an option to hide the notch. It's not that it completely removes the notch, according to 9to5Google; it is that it masks the entire status bar at the top, making the notch much less noticeable. This is not a perfect solution, as it looks roughly like a bezel, but some may prefer this look to the notch.
The feature is not yet available to consumers; it's always an option reserved for developers. You can see what the Google Pixel 3 XL frill without framing looks like below, but the question that remains is: is it better or worse than kissing the notch?
Tick, check. Current Android P developer option, which is not new. You do not know yet if the option that Google has confirmed is this one, or some kind of user-oriented setting, that will set the time / date / note above. pic.twitter.com/4cpebmUoYq
