Users of the Google Android Gboard Keyboard app have a new option. In an update being deployed, a new floating keyboard feature allows you to move the keyboard location as you see fit.

This is not something that is unique to Gboard, far from it; Floating keyboards have been available in other keyboard applications for some time, so Google is catching up. But for existing users, as well as for those looking for a reason to try Gboard for the first time, this update is great news.

In addition to being able to release the keyboard from its usual location at the bottom of the screen, this latest update also allows you to resize the keyboard. To go into floating mode, you have to press the menu in the upper left corner of the keyboard, just like when you switch from Gboard to another mode.

With the Floating option selected, you can then move the keyboard on the screen by dragging it with the four curved arrows down. To resize, just grab the resize handles on the four corners of the keyboard.

You can download Gboard from Google Play or simply check for updates if you are already a user.
