At launch, the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL offered a very interesting call filtering feature, which used Google Assistant to respond to suspected spam calls and transcribe the conversation in real time. Now, the feature comes on the Pixel 2 and 2 XL as part of this week's Google Phone update, as indicated by Droid Life.
The number of spam calls is increasing and companies, including operators such as T-Mobile, are taking things in hand to prevent potential spam calls from reaching the customer. But for calls that always pass, you can press the "Call on Screen" button. The Google Assistant then informs the caller that you are using a filtering service and that you receive a copy of the conversation. From there, you can choose to pick up the call, hang up or block the number.
Once you have the call screening feature on your Pixel phone, you have nothing to do to turn it on. it will be activated by default. If you want to change the voice type or perform a demonstration to see how it works, you can access your Google Phone app settings and tap Call Screen.
The feature is being rolled out and should be available soon for the rest of the Pixel family. Google has not made any official announcement and does not appear in the list of phone application updates. There is no schedule for deployment.
