Google Lens was one of the topicals of Google I / O this year. During the show, Google told us (and demonstrated) that a number of equipment manufacturers would have live processing built into their camera applications, which we have since seen live for some Sony-produced phones, OnePlus, Motorola and ASUS. Meanwhile, Google's Nexus and Pixel phones have been left a little behind the curve, at least until today. The latest update of the Google Camera app finally brings the Goal Mode to Pixel, Nexus and other phones supported by Google.

To find the Lens Mode, open the Navigation drawer by pressing the Hamburger icon at the top left or drag your finger from the left edge to the center. It works exactly like in the Google Assistant and the standalone application, so there is not really anything to this change that we had not already, but it is another way to reach Lens if it 's more convenient or memorable from one moment to the next. The performances and behaviors seem to match, and it seems that all the main functions are present, such as recognition and copying of text or reading of barcodes.

I can confirm that this update adds Lens Mode to at least the Nexus 6P and Pixel phones, but it should also work for any other phone compatible with the Google Camera app.
