We're three days away from this year's MadeByGoogle event. While it's almost impossible to keep everything secret, we've seen a comical leak in this year's Pixel lineup, including Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. We've even seen the third generation of Chromecast, the Google Home Hub smart screen and the Pixel Stand Wireless Charging Station. But the next product named "Nocturne", named Pixelbook, detachable from the Pixelbook, will apparently be marketed under the name of "Google Pixel Slate" and will serve as a refresh of the Google Pixelbook in 2018. We already know quite a lot about this new device thanks to Chromium's source code, but we finally have what seems to be marketing images of the Google Pixel Slate removable tablet through MySmartPrice.
The Google Pixel Slate looks, from a design point of view, as a child between the Google Pixel C and the Google Pixelbook. You could call this an updated version of Google Pixel C: the Pixel Slate is supposed to have a large touch screen with a 3: 2 aspect ratio, a rear camera in the upper corner and a thin metal structure. However, a few things are different: the Google Pixel Slate will run an updated version of Chrome OS optimized for tablets, which should offer a better desktop experience compared to Google Pixel's Android Marshmallow / Android Nougat / Android Oreo version In addition, the Pixel Slate tablet always supports all your favorite Android apps, so you do not lose anything.
Just like the Google Pixel C, the Google Pixel Slate will have a detachable keyboard accessory that will allow you to dock your tablet and use it exactly as you would with a laptop. We will also have a stylus, although we have no idea of the richness of its features. It is not confirmed that both accessories come with the Google Pixel Slate, but we will probably know it after the unveiling.
We still do not have definitive information on the hardware specifications of the device apart from a few reference lists, but we believe that they will have specifications at least equivalent to those of last year. This means that it should easily handle Linux applications in Chrome OS. And even if we do not have price or availability data, we think it will be a premium offer.
