Google Duo: here's how to get rewards up to Rs 9,000

Of the countless applications available on Android, the most popular ones may be those directly from Google. Apps like Gmail, Google Maps and YouTube are used almost daily by almost all Android users. However, some Google apps (and, by extension, some services) do not have this popularity, such as Duo.

Google Duo was launched more than two years ago and soon after, replaced Hangouts in the Google suite of applications that OEMs are required to install on all Android smartphones. However, despite these efforts and the constant improvements made by Google to the application, Duo did not acquire the momentum he hoped for.

Google is however not ready to give up yet. In order to encourage more people to use Duo, Google has announced a rewards program in India. This comes just a few months after the launch of a similar program in the Philippines.

The process is simple If you are already a Google Duo user, you can invite other users to join Duo via a single invitation link. If a user signs up for the service (with a phone number that has never been used for Duo) with the help of your invitation link, you will both receive a reward cash.

To get started, launch Google Duo and head over to Invite Friends -> Share Invitation Link. It should be noted that the option will only be visible if you are eligible for the rewards program. Then choose a contact in your contact list and press the 'Send' option. If the other person is not in your contact list, you can go to Share link -> Send to transfer the unique link.

Google Duo will notify you when you earn a reward. To use it, your Google account must be connected to Duo. The reward money (distributed as a digital scratch card worth Rs 1,000) will be deposited into your bank account. Similarly, you must have a UPI-enabled savings account associated with Google Pay.

According to the terms of use of Google, a person can earn up to Rs 9,000 in cash during a fiscal year (from April 1 to March 31). In addition, the offer is available to everyone in India, with the exception of residents of the state of Tamil Nadu.
