Google announced today that the Home Mini, which has become in less than a year the most popular smart speaker in the world, can now be purchased in aqua. The new Home Mini shade adds to the existing coral, chalk and charcoal shades that were introduced when the Home Mini made its public debut about a year ago.

Aqua Home Mini will debut before the "Made by Google" event scheduled for Oct. 9 in New York, where Google is expected to introduce Pixel 3, a smart speaker with a visual interface and a touch screen, which would have been called Home Hub and potentially a range of other devices that interact with Google Assistant.

Home Mini's biggest competition was upgraded just a few weeks ago with Echo's launch of the third generation, Echo Dot. Without a doubt, the Home Mini outperformed the original Echo Dot plastic, but the new generation comes with a mesh finish like the Home Mini and promises a 70% improvement in output volume.

At $ 49 each, the Home Mini and Echo Dot are the world's two best selling smart speakers.

According to Strategy Analytics analysis, the Home Mini was the world's best-selling smart speaker in the second quarter of 2018, with 2.3 million units sold, followed closely by Echo Dot with 2 , 2 million units sold. Together, they accounted for 38% of the global market.

A report from Canalys, released in August, revealed that Google was driving global sales of smart speakers in the second quarter of 2018, with 5.4 million units delivered, followed by 4.1 million Echo's range of smart speakers. Amazon. Alibaba and Xiaomi have taken third and fourth place in global smart speaker sales, thanks to the growing popularity of devices that interact with artificial intelligence assistants in China.
