Just one week before the Oct. 9 event, Google unveils the new color of its $ 49 Home Home Mini speaker, indicating that the device will not be refreshed this year.
The latest color is called aqua, and Google describes it as "a mint blue color that fits perfectly into the Made by Google family" and says "the new color exudes a soothing atmosphere". Personally, I agree with my colleague Jake who commented. it looks very unstoppable, but maybe it would not be my first choice for the one to buy. The Home Mini is also available in chalk (white), charcoal (dark gray) and coral (red / pink). Aqua starts shipping on October 29th.
It is expected that the next smartphones Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will also be available in aqua. A promotional website from Google revealed that the devices would be offered in three colors: white, black and a third option identical to the latest version of Home Mini.
If the Home Mini update is not updated on October 9, what does this mean for other Home speakers? According to Google, this is the most popular device in the range. It would be strange to update the more expensive models and leave it alone outside a new color. Amazon has not slowed down the pace of its Echo products – a new Dot is coming on the market this month – but it looks like Google is satisfied with the 2017 Home speakers to give them more time on the shelves.
