Google Maps is one of the most popular navigation apps in the world, but if you want to avoid expensive speed tickets, your best bet right now is probably Waze. Waze allows its users to share traffic information and anything that is worth knowing while driving. You may not know it, but Waze was bought by Google in 2013. And while the Waze team has been left in the thick of it, it seems like Google is finally considering using part of the know-how acquired.
Google did not announce that it was doing anything new, but AndroidPolice noticed that some Reddit users already share their impressions of features that most of us have not even seen. Namely, the added options to report a crash or speed trap from Google Maps.
As the new features are in the testing phase, do not expect to see the police warnings for now. Since few users are able to report let alone do it, keep your eyes open and your speed reasonable (as you should do anyway).
Does this mean that Google is looking to phase out Waze and attract users to its Maps app? Very unlikely, at least for the moment. Be that as it may, Google offers more features to most browsing application users, and we hope to see them on our devices quite quickly.
