Google recently doubled its efforts to add more features to its Maps app, although the latest efforts are currently in the testing phase.
Aimed at motorists who use navigation, this feature allows you to report accidents and speed traps, then use crowdsourced data to create more efficient routes for other drivers or warn them of nearby hazards.
It was spotted by the Android police during a disassembly of the APK file a few months ago. It is now starting to appear for a number of users who use Google Maps on Android.
If you are, you will see a new report button with the "+" sign in a bubble at the bottom left of the Maps screen. Tap to add details about a crash or quick trap, the data helping Maps to better calculate routes or send alerts to users when they are approaching a hazard.
Similar functionality is already available in Waze, Google's browser app in 2013. That's why it's somewhat surprising that the blocking and speed control buttons took so long to appear in Google Maps. even if only as a test at this stage.
If the evaluation version proves useful for the features of Google Maps and popular with users, we can expect this feature to be extended to everyone before too long. However, as with all tests, there is no guarantee that reports of traffic collisions and speed traps will appear in a future update.

Google seems to have been busier than ever recently, adding a host of new features to Google Maps.
In the past month alone, a "Follow" button has been added to the Android version so you can keep track of your favorite businesses and be the first to discover information such as special offers and upcoming events . A real-time tracking of iPhone trips (Android is already part of it) has also been added, along with improved navigation for less stressful trips, group surveys to help you and your friends decide where to eat and the locations of charging stations for electric vehicles.
