Google Phone 26 adds a dark theme that syncs with Google Contacts [APK Insight]

[ad_1]

As promised in August, the dark theme of Google Phone is unfolding with the latest beta update. Google Phone 26 follows Google Contacts earlier this week and gives developers the advice that dark themes help preserve battery life.

About APK InsightIn this 'APK Insight' article, we have decompiled the latest version of an application that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we are able to see different lines of code in this indication of possible future features. Do not forget that Google may or may not offer these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We will, however, try to allow those who are about to be finished to show you what they look like in the case they are shipped. With that in mind, read on.

Dark theme

Just like Google Contacts, the dark theme of Google Phone is based on Android night mode. If this developer option is set to 'Always On', the dark mode will be automatically enabled and can not be disabled. Otherwise, the manual switch is in Settings> Display Options> Dark Theme.

As previously enabled, the application background is dark gray, corresponding to Google Messages and Contacts. Color buttons are always present in the dark blue FAB, as well as in the contact icons. This completes the trifecta, all of Google's main communication applications having a dark theme.

In the meantime, as we noted earlier, Google Contacts and Google Phone keep the themes dark in sync. The activation or deactivation of one application will automatically apply the same mode in the other.

How to update?

You can sign up here for the Google Phone beta program or by going to the Play Store list on Android and scrolling the screen to the bottom. The latest beta version of the Google Phone app is immediately deployed when it is available.

We do not publish APKs for download directly because of legal difficulties related to copyright and the possibility of deletion. In the meantime, this model is perilous given Android's bundled bundles of apps and dynamic Google Play delivery.

Thanks to JEB Decompiler, which benefit some disassembly of APK Insight.
